HU HANMIN (1879-1936)
LOTS 2959-2978 COLLECTION OF GENERAL ZHANG FAKUI General Zhang Fakui (1896-1980) was born in Guangdong province. Zhang was the second lieutenant General in the Army of Nationalist Party of China.He was an active participant during the Sino-Japanese war and had a prominent career in the army. He was appointed as GroupArmy commander in chief,Army Corp Commander in Chief and Military Region Commander in Chief respectively. After the war, he was appointed as a member of the Presidential Strategic Advisory Board. In March 1949, he became Army Chief, but resigned in July, then moved to Hong Kong permanently . Although Zhang spent his life in the military, he saw the arts as an integral part of education and established schools to educate the youths. His contribution included donating sets of important encyclopedias to the National Library.
