20 parts in 19, 8o (224 x 144 mm). Additional vignette title page, frontispiece, and 38 etched plates by Hablot K. Browne. (Some browning or staining throughout, a few pages and plates with marginal tears, some repaired.) Original pictorial blue-green wrappers (some browning and chipping, particularly to spines, a few short tears); quarter morocco slip case. Provenance: Wm. Babcoch (ownership inscription on front wrapper for part 3); J. Walmsley, Stationer (inkstamp on front wrapper for part 7); Wl. N. Demster (ownership inscription on front wrapper for part 10).
FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL PARTS, with points: vignette title dated 1850; misprinted "Forster's Lile of Goldsmith" in the "Copperfield Advertiser" in part 8, page 3. "Copperfield Advertisers" present throughout, all of the advertisements and slips as called for by Hatton and Cleaver (with the exception of 18 of 20 pages of rear ads in part 9 only, all but the last slip in part 12, and 8 pages of Waterslow ads in part 19/20; with 8 pages variant front ads in part 4, back ads in part 16 though none called for).
