EINSTEIN'S SIMPLE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A JEW. We don't have the letter from Dr. Berman that prompted this response, but evidently he opined about beliefs that define the Jewish faith. Einstein, the non-believer, has his own, definition: "For nearly all practical purposes a Jew is not a person believing some special things, but a person coming from a Jewish father and mother."
