Half-title with woodcut ornament on the verso and woodcut title both after Ricketts. (Very occasional spotting, offsetting from free endpaper onto Q5v, lacking final blank Q7.) 20th-century purple crushed morocco gilt by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, spine gilt in compartments, gilt edges, the original pictorial cloth covers and spine after Ricketts laid-down and bound-in, printed free endpapers after Ricketts bound-in (skilful repair to small tear in margin of one endpaper, cloth covers slightly marked and trimmed, cloth spine a little worn). Provenance: W.A. Foyle (Beeleigh Abbey bookplate).
LIMITED EDITION, SIGNED BY WILDE. THE FOYLE COPY. This edition of Wilde's Poems used the sheets of David Bogue's fifth edition of 1882 -- which incorporated several substantive additions and amendments. Bogue's sheets were issued with a new title and half-title designed by Ricketts, and in a binding also by Ricketts. The penultimate leaf Q6, which bore Bogue's advertisements, was excised. Number 109 of 220 copies only. Mason 309.
