This work was probably inspired by John Wood's Choir Gaure of 1747, and contains a survey of the archaeological literature (Jones, Stukeley, Wood etc.) with Smith's notes on the astronomical uses of Stonehenge. Upcott notes that the views 'generally accompany the volume, but were not published with it', which suggests, together with the binding, that the present lot is a remainder. Upcott III, 1323-4.
