Shaped circular, on four scroll feet, with shell and scroll border, the field engraved with an Earl's arms, marked on reverse, also stamped 'MORTIMER & HUNT III'

Lot Essay

The arms of those of George Charles, 3rd Earl of Lucan (1800-1888), who married, in 1829, Anne, daughter of the 6th Earl of Cardigan. He was the commander of the Cavalry division during the Crimean War. He is noted for supporting the admission of Jews to Parliament, thus
Lionel Nathan Rothschild was sworn into the House of Commons in 1855.
