Circular, the double-walled base with gadrooned rim, the domed covers with leaf-clad reeded open handle on gadrooned base, the fluted baluster wood handle with linked chain and pin, unscrewing to provide access to the hot water compartment, the interior set with removable tripart divider, the cover engraved with an Earl's coat-of-arms, the base and divider with crest and Earl's coronet, marked on sides, interiors, covers, dividers, handle threads, and on one finial and one nut

The arms are those of John, 2nd Earl of Eldon (1805-1854). He was M.P. for Truro 1829-1832 and president of the Pitt Club in 1842. In 1831 he married Louisa, daughter of Charles, Lord Feversham.
