A preparatory study for the picture, dating to circa 1695, formerly in the Favero Collection in Venice (A. Craievich, Antonio Molinari, Soncino, 2005, p. 234, fig. 77), for which a pen and wash drawing also survives (Düsseldorf, Museum Kunst Palast; S. Brink, Die Zeichnungen des Antonio Molinari, Düsseldorf, 2005, no. 10). The 'Reliable' collector also owned a Molinari drawing of The Finding of Moses, now in the Art Institute of Chicago (exhibited in Venice, Fondazione Cini, Disegni di una collezione veneziana del Settecento, 1966, no. 51).
