This drawing will be included in the Supplement to the Catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre de Daumier by K.E. Maison currently being prepared by the Comité Daumier. The Comité relates it to a drawing of two heads, executed in the same technique and of similar dimensions (K.E. Maison, Honoré Daumier: Catalogue raisonné of the Paintings, Watercolours and Drawings, London, 1968, vol. II, no. 121, pl. 21).
