Lot Essay

Hester Cholmondeley was born before 1774, the daughter of Thomas Cholmondeley, M.P. for Cheshire, and Dorothy Cowper. She married John Drummond on 11 June 1789 and they had one son and two daughters. She died on 24 September 1802. Despite the inscription on the reverse, her brother, the 1st Lord Delamere was in fact named Thomas, not Charles.
