Lot Essay

Glover lived at Blowick Farm, Patterdale, near Ullswater, for many years before emigrating to Tasmania, where he named his new house Patterdale. He was fascinated by the beauty of this part of the Lake District, exhibiting a watercolour of Ullswater nearly every year at the Old Water-Colour Society from 1806 to 1816, as well as executing paintings from different vantage points.
