Lot Essay

The use of rich French inspired gilt-gesso ornamentation, augmented by Grecian scrolls, is reminiscent of the seat furniture commissioned by George IV from the firm Morel and Seddon, for the enhancement of the East Wing at Windsor Castle during the late 1820's.
