There are only ten or so signed works by this Antwerp artist, who was clearly influenced by the still-life paintings of Jan Davidsz. de Heem (in some instances he copied parts of de Heem's compositions of the late 1640s and early 1650s). Only the first initial of his name is known, but he was probably a member of the talented family of artists active in Antwerp, which including the miniaturists Jan Baptist and Abraham.
