The present table with its lambrequin frieze and blind-fret-carved uprights is a fine example of the legacy of Baroque ornament in Piedmont furniture during the first half of the 18th Century.
The influence of the court of Louis XIV in the deployment of such Baroque ornament is apparent in a related table dating to the second half of the 17th Century, conceived in Mantua and currently in a private collection (see C. Alberici, Il Mobile Lombardia, Milan, 1969, p. 82.
A table of related design which stylistically favours early Rococo but retains this Baroque influence is in the Collection of the Museo d'Arte, Milan (see E. Baccheshi, Mobili Piemontesi del sei e settecento, Milan, 1963, p. 30).
