The four faces each with wide mouth, downcast eyes, and arched brows centered by a raised urna and flanked by lotiform earrings, surmounted by a foliate tiara and topped with a columnar chignon

Lot Essay

This work would have likely had a fifth head attached above, identifying the deity as Sadashiva, a tantric manifestation of Shiva. For another representation of the deity in the Bayon style, see H.
