Lot Essay

Antonio Alonso Martinez (born 29 April 1963 in Portugal) is a Spanish/Portuguese painter, who trained in painting at the 'Center for Art and Visual Communication', Lisbon, Portugal. Being born in Portugal to Spanish parents, Martinez controversially opted for Spanish nationality in 1978, as a protest against compulsory military service. He's married to the Portuguese singer songwriter Pilar Homem de Melo. He was fortunate to meet and spend time with Cobain after a Nirvana concert in Vienna.
