A set of five lacquer dishes
Zeshin school, Meiji period (Late 19th century), inscribed Zeshin and sealed
Each square-shaped shallow dish with everted sides ribbed to simulate bamboo and applied with red lacquer and further decorated in gold and silver low-relief takamaki-e with irises, the undersides black lacquer
5½ x 5 3/8in. (14 x 13.6cm.) each
With wood box inscribed by Shoji Chikushin (1854-1936), a pupil of Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891), and signed Kakan'an Chikushin kan and sealed Shin (5)
