Meiji period (late 19th century)
The cabinet comprising six shelves, two sliding doors, two hinged doors, decorated in hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and inlaid ivory and mother-of-pearl with motifs of birds, flowers and beauties playing musical instruments, the wood frames surrounding each cabinet door decorated with stylized foliate scroll in gold hiramaki-e, with pierced and carved elements throughout
