A Fluted Wood Paper Holder with the Ten Signs of Long Life (Shipjaengsaeng)
(early 20th century)
The large paper holder constructed on a flat base with moulded bamboolike perimeter with seven fluted sections, each carved in very low relief with imagery representing the Ten Signs of Long Life, including the sun, cranes, pines, deer and mystical fungus interpersed with other felicitous symbols, the carving stained golden brown with black line details and the base wood darker brown
