The dark hardwood scepter is inset with three shaped jade plaques. The largest is carved with a faceted jardinière filled with lingzhi and nandina. The other two plaques are carved with four of the Eight Buddhist Emblems - the Wheel, the Endless Knot, the Umbrella, and the Conch Shell - two of which, the Umbrella and the Conch Shell, are repeated in silver wire on the handle.
