AN UNUSUAL PALE GREENISH-YELLOW AND RUSSET JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
MASTER OF THE ROCKS SCHOOL, 1740-1850
The flattened, rectangular bottle is carved with a blossoming plum tree, a branch of which extends across one shoulder to the other side of the bottle, while the other shoulder is carved with the sun partially obscured by a vaporous cloud. Either narrow side is finely carved through isolated patches of russet skin with scrolling archaistic dragons. The top of the mouth rim also features an attractive patch of russet skin.
