AN INSIDE-PAINTED AMBER GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
WANG XISAN, DATED EARLY WINTER YISI YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1965
The bottle is well painted on the interior on one side with a scene of the luohan Changmei seated on a circular straw mat before a tall brazier. An inscription above identifies the figure, and is followed by a small oval seal reading yin (seal). The reverse is painted with Bodhidharma seated before a stack of books and reading one of the texts. An inscription above identifies the figure and states when the bottle was painted. The inscription is preceded by a seal reading zun (respectful) and is followed by a seal reading Xisan. A large rocky outcrop with bamboo is painted on one narrow side and separates the two scenes.
2 in. (5 cm.) high, jadeite and metal stopper
注意事项
Items which contain rubies or jadeite originating in Burma (Myanmar) may not be imported into the U.S. As a convenience to our bidders, we have marked these lots with Y. Please be advised that a purchaser¹s inability to import any such item into the U.S. or any other country shall not constitute grounds for non-payment or cancellation of the sale. With respect to items that contain any other types of gemstones originating in Burma (e.g., sapphires), such items may be imported into the U.S., provided that the gemstones have been mounted or incorporated into jewellery outside of Burma and provided that the setting is not of a temporary nature (e.g., a string).
