BOTTLE, 1760-1880; DECORATION, YE BENGQI
The flattened, rounded-rectangular bottle is finely painted on either side with a mountainous landscape. On one side a solitary figure is shown in a sampan floating down a tranquil river. On the reverse a figure holding a staff is shown approaching a footbridge that spans a winding river. An inscription above identifies the painter of the bottle and is followed by an oval seal reading yin (seal).
2¾ in. (6.9 cm.) high, agate and bronze stopper
Provenance
Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1960s-1970s.
