A BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL, ZHI
LATE SHANG DYNASTY, 12TH-11TH CENTURY BC
The vessel, of elongated pear shape, has a flared neck and is cast below the neck with a band of angular scroll and a bow-string band, while the spreading pedestal foot is encircled by two bow-string bands. The bronze has a milky green patina and areas of green encrustation.
