A BRONZE MULTI-ARMED FIGURE OF GUANYIN
LATE MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The sixteen-armed bodhisattva is shown seated in vajrasana with the primary hands held in the respectful gesture of salutation, anjali mudra, and the others radiating at the sides of the body as they hold various ritual objects. A five-point crown surmounts the head above the crisply cast face which has a 'third eye' in the center of the forehead.
