A LONGQUAN CELADON CARVED CHARGER
MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY
The large dish is heavily potted with flaring, rounded sides. The interior is carved in the center with a trellis diaper below a band of peony scroll in the well and scrolling tendrils on the everted rim. The large dish is covered overall with a glaze of sea-green color, except for a wide unglazed ring on the base, which has burnt orange in the firing.
17¾ in. (45.1 cm.) diam.
