A RARE LONGQUAN CELADON CARVED BOWL
MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY
The bowl is heavily potted with steep, rounded sides that rise to a lipped rim. The interior is carved with a pair of phoenixes and a crane in flight below a composite floral scroll in the well, and the exterior is carved with a petal lappet band below two further decorative bands. The bowl is covered overall with a thick, even glaze of olive-green color.
6½ in. (16.5 cm.) diam.
