YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)
The center of the dish is decorated with a five-clawed dragon leaping amidst flames in pursuit of a flaming pearl, all outlined in underglaze blue and covered in green glaze. A similar frieze of two dragons is on the exterior.
8 3/8 in. (21.3 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A similar dish, with a Yongzheng mark, is in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, and illustrated in Catalog of the Special Exhibition of K'ang-hsi, Yung-cheng and Ch'ien-lung Porcelain Ware from the Ch'ing Dynasty in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1986, no. 43. Another was sold at Christie's South Kensington, 12 November 2010, lot 1246.
