The sides are finely decorated in sepia with two scholars approaching a pavilion nestled amidst trees and rocks on a promontory on the shores of a river, with mountains in the distance. The scene is reserved on a pale café-au-lait ground in contrast to the turquoise enamel of the interior, which also covers the base around the seal mark.
