Die Skulptur kann als Zusammenarbeit von Max Bill und Bruno Giacometti betrachtet werden. Laut Bruno Giacometti hat er selber den Stein in der Maira, dem Fluss der das Bergell durchfliesst, gefunden und Max Bill die Idee zur Skulptur geliefert.
Vermutlich ist das Werk um 1964 entstanden, als Max Bills Granitplastik Rhythmus im Raum an der Expo 64 in Lausanne ausgestellt war. Es ist diese Skulptur, die heute vor dem Stadthaus in Uster steht, dem Gebäude, das Bruno Giacometti 1962 erbaut hat.

The sculpture can be considered as co-operation of Max Bill and Bruno Giacometti. According to Bruno Giacometti, he found the stone himself in the Maira, the river which flows through the Val Bregaglia, and Max Bill provided the idea for the sculpture.
Most likely the work emerged around 1964, as Max Bill's granite sculpture Rhythmus im Raum was shown at the Expo 64 in Lausanne. It is this sculpture which stands today in front of the Town Hall in Uster, the building which was built in 1962 by Bruno Giacometti.
