CASE: with fluted column and drum-shaped case surmounted by a twin-handled urn flanked by two classically draped female figures, the stepped base with relief panel emblematic of Science and trophy for the Arts DIAL: white enamel signed 'Briant A PARIS', pierced gilt hands MOVEMENT: twin barrels with Brocot dead beat escapement and rack striking on a bell, the back plate numbered '19696', makers stamp of ship and initials 'JLF' and 'EMS' and circular stamp 'ETIENNE MAXANT PARIS BREVETE'; with pendulum numbered '19696'
