Lot Essay

A very closely related Pembroke table, labelled by the London maker John Sherrott (fl. 1776-1809), is illustrated in the Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, London, 1996, p. 419. It or its pair was sold Bonhams, London, 21 November 2006, lot 60. See also Sotheby's, London, 4 June 2008, lot 146 for two similar tables with almost identical decoration.
