THE BLADE BY J.J. RUNKEL, SOLINGEN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With double-edged blade signed on each side within a short fuller at the forte, brass hilt retaining traces of original gilt finish comprising guard of rounded bars supporting solid shields, short wrist-guard, compressed fluted domed pommel with prominent tang-button, remains of dark red textile tassel beneath the pommel, and original rayskin-covered wire-bound grip (blade discoloured)
