A CAUCASIAN 16-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL
EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With swamped barrel struck with two brass-lined maker's marks at the breech, grooved iron tang, scroll engraved flat bevelled lock heightened with inlaid brass dots, figured walnut full stock with light carving to the fore-end, cast and chased silver mounts including pierced side-plate and muzzle-sleeve, and later iron ramrod; together with A BALKAN 18-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, with two-stage barrel with traces of foliate engraving at the breech, border engraved flat bevelled lock with stepped-tail and roller, walnut full stock profusely inlaid with silver wire scrollwork, foliage and flower-heads, and with applied martial trophies on the butt and pommel, cast and chased mounts including side-plate decorated in high relief with a trophy of arms, and later iron-tipped ramrod
