AN ITALIAN 22-BORE FLINTLOCK BELT PISTOL
LATE 17TH EARLY 18TH CENTURY
With two-stage swamped barrel with turned girdle and pronounced moulding at the breech, iron tang, flat bevelled shaped lock, replacement walnut full stock, trigger-guard with pierced finial (probably original), the remaining iron mounts engraved with scrollwork and dating from the time of the restocking, iron belt-hook, and later wooden ramrod with turned bud-shaped iron tip (original iron parts with some shallow pitting throughout, mechanism at fault, some discolouration to other iron parts, butt cracked through)
