A CASED PAIR OF 20-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS

Each with rebrowned twist barrel with full length sighting flat, gold fore-sight, engraved patent breech with gold line, gold-lined touch-hole and signed 'LONDON' on a gold-inlaid ribbon, foliate engraved tang with standing rear-sight, engraved flat detented bolted lock signed 'ASKEW' on a gold-inlaid ribbon and with stepped tail, rainproof pan and roller, the safety-bolt also locking the steel, set trigger (one defective), figured walnut half-stock with chequered butt (one with cracked and repaired fore-end), engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon, barrel-bolt escutcheons and fore-end cap, and one with later ramrod (the other missing, older refinishing throughout, some discolouration, trigger-guard tangs each incised with a registration number), London proof marks, in a relined and refitted case with some accessories including a brass-mounted copper three-way pistol-flask
