With twist sighted barrels signed in full along the rib (signature faint), patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug, inlaid with a single platinum line and engraved with band of foliage, the rib between engraved with a sunburst, scroll engraved tang and bolted bar locks, the latter each signed 'PURDEY', figured walnut half-stock with chequered butt, engraved iron mounts, and silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons (numerous defects throughout), London proof marks and barrelsmith's mark 'JP' for James Purdey

The makers have kindly confirmed that the pair of pistols serial numbered 1914 and 1915 were made for a Mr. R.J. Sheddon and a simply noted as being a pair of double pistols.
