Lot Essay

Hugh Tibbats (or Tibats) was recorded as a 'hinge and sash fastening maker' at Bell Street, Wolverhampton, in 1781. Almost all high-quality mid-18th-century concertina-action card or tea tables incorporate his metalwork.
