Eelco Napjus (1728-1803) was major and executor of Sneek, and a well-known historian of the town. He published his Geschiedkundige Kronijk en Beschrijving van de Stad Sneek, known as the 'Chronicle of Napjus', in 1772. Napjus was guardian to Grijtje Nijsloot, born 1770, who married Jan Wybrands van Sloterdyck (1770-1818), with whom she had a daughter Wybrandia in 1796.
