The case of typical form, the cast dial with enamel Roman chapters, the door mounted with a chariot and four horses, the feet modelled as horses, on a waved plinth, twin-barrel movement with spring suspension, strike on bell, backplate signed Baltazar Martinot Paris; pendulum and winding key

Lot Essay

Lescure was a cabinet-maker working in Paris around 1910 who specialized in the 'aux chevaux'-type clocks.
A related model by Lescure is illustrated in Tardy, French Clocks, Volume I, Paris, 1981, p. 157. A related clock was sold at Christie's Amsterdam, 3 April 2007, lot 454.
