Lot Essay

A 183 cm. high cast is in Musée d'Orsay and illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, LES BRONZES DU XIXe SIECLE, Paris, 1989, p. 520. In the same book there is an illustration of one of the pages from the catalogue of Fumière et Cie, successeur de Thiébaut frères showing Trouvaille à Pompei.
In Harold Berman, BRONZES: Sculptors & Founders 1800-1930, Volume 2 , 1994, page 266, the model is described and illustrated.
