Of oval form with rounded base and cusped, flattened rim, cavetto with two large medallions at either end containing birds on ground of scrolling vine on punched ground, raised centre with plain circular medallion with foliage on either side set in studded pearl border

Lot Essay

The raised avian forms and punched decoration are similar to a bowl attributed to 16th Century Ottoman ruled Hungary, (Geza Feher, Craftsmanship in Turkish-Ruled Hungary, Budapest, 1975, cat. no. 45).
