The molded double domed cresting punctuated by figural finials above a a pair of etched mirrored doors opening to a fitted interior with drawers, pigeonholes and folio slides surrounding a pair of engaged columns headed by gilt figures and with secret compartments flanking a pair of arched doors opening to further drawers, the lower case with three graduated drawers, on bracket feet, right door framing later, pulls replaced

Lot Essay

The celebrated collector and personality Benjamin Sonnenberg made his fortune as an immigrant publicist with important client clients such as William S. Paley, Samuel Goldwyn, Lever Brothers and Pan American World Airways. His collection of fine art and furniture from his townhouse at 19 Gramercy Park was sold in a two-volume sale at Sotheby's, New York, 5-9 June 1979.
