A COLORED DIAMOND RING, BY GALT
Set with a pear-shaped fancy light pink diamond, weighing approximately 10.52 carats, flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond, mounted in platinum
Signed Galt
With report 1142267402 dated 23 December 2011 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the diamond is fancy light pink, natural color, SI1 clarity

Accompanied by a supplemental letter from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the diamond has been determined to be a Type IIa diamond. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency. Type IIa diamonds were first identified as originating from India (particularly from the Golconda region) but have since been recovered in all major diamond-producing regions of the world. Among famous gem diamonds, the 530.20 carat Cullinan I and the 105.60 carat Koh-i-noor are examples of Type IIa

Recently closed after nearly two centuries of continuous operation, Galt & Brothers Jewelers was a prestigious Washington D.C. jewelry firm which counted many notable politicians as clients, including Abraham Lincoln. Upon her husband's death in 1908, Edith Galt took over management of the store and subsequently married President Woodrow Wilson in 1915.

This diamond was purchased in the same 1968 auction in which Richard Burton purchased a 33.19 carat diamond ring for Elizabeth Taylor, which later became known as The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond and was sold at Christie's New York in December 2011 for $8,818,500.
