Lot Essay

Also known as a 'vase d'ornement,' the form was conceived with a fluted cover applied with spiraling flowers. It takes its name from a commission of 1753-1755 listed simply as "pour le Turc". See T. Préaud and A. d'Albis, La porcelaine de Vincennes, Paris, 1991, cat. no. 54.
