Lot Essay

The present ewer is closely related to a pair of ormolu-mounted Khangxi period vases formerly in the collection of the Duc d'Aumont (illustrated D. Alcouffe et al., Gilt bronzes in the Louvre, Dijon, 2004, p. 89).
