A GREEK GOLD SPIRAL EARRING
CLASSICAL PERIOD, CIRCA 5TH CENTURY B.C.
Composed of sheet gold over a bronze core, with one and a quarter turns with lion head terminals, with open jaws and naturalistically modelled mane, 5/8 in. (1.5 cm.) long; and another with three and a half turns, sheet gold over a bronze core, possibly a hair ring, with female head terminal, the other terminal in the form of a rosette with central grain, 1½ in. (3.8 cm.) long (2)
