A GREEK GOLD EARRING
ARCHAIC PERIOD, CIRCA 6TH CENTURY B.C.
The solid gold ring with one and a half twists, with stylized grape bunch terminal consisting of four columns of four slightly flattened beads, surmounted by a larger bead, with spiralled wire collar, and a similar, smaller, decoration on the lower loop

It is suggested that earrings such as these would have been worn from a S-shaped loop. For similar from Rhodes, cf. F. H. Marshall, Catalogue of the Jewellery, British Museum, 1911, p. 97, no. 1174.
