This rare early Irish sporting painting shows George Evans, 1st Baron Carbery out hunting with his hounds. The son of George Evans, of Bulgaddon Hall, County Limerick (1655-1720) and his wife Mary, née Eyre, Carbery held the seat for Limerick County in the Irish House of Commons between 1707 and 1715. He was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Carbery, of Carbery in the County of Cork in 1715, and was admitted to the Irish Privy Council later that year. He represented Westbury in the British House of Commons between 1715 and 1722, and again from 1724 to 1727.
