Charles-Laurent Grevenbroeck played an important role at the court of Louis XV. At the Salon of 1738 he showed four seascapes painted for the King's Chamber at the Château de la Muette, and in 1740 exhibited a View of Paris, Seen from the Champs-Elysées, which had been commissioned by Louis XV.
